近代の木版画家〈谷中安規〉展にちなんで、こどもたちと小さなモノクロ木版画を作りました。展覧会鑑賞で谷中の作品から意図を観察し、彼が試みた様々な摺りの工夫をこどもたちに追体験してもらう内容でした。人それぞれの絵に合った彫り方や摺り方、表現があるということを再認識させられた、印象深いワークショップでした。

Let’s Carve! Let’s Print! Woodblock Printmaking Class

After the Yasunori Taninaka Exhibition, a solo exhibition by the modern woodblock printer, children made small, monochrome woodblock prints. They re-experience various means of printmaking tried by Taninaka by observing intentions from his artwork in the exhibition. It was a memorable workshop that made me re-realize there are different ways of carving, printing, and expressions that match the design of each person.
